This research addresses the importance of medicinal plants as a fundamental part of ancestral knowledge, integrating it into education through a learning project. Regarding medicinal plants, the contributions of Julio Mantilla, Grimaldo Rengifo, and the book Qora are considered, highlighting that these plants not only possess healing properties but also form part of the life and worldview of the communities. In the Andean world, plants are considered living beings with a soul, family, and gender, so their medicinal use implies respect and responsible practices. Regarding ancestral knowledge, the contributions of Rengifo, the World Health Organization (WHO), and David Ausubel's theory of meaningful learning are taken into account. These approaches highlight the value of traditional knowledge as part of cultural identity and emphasize the importance of incorporating it into the educational process, fostering meaningful learning linked to students' experiences and contexts. Finally, the learning project is based on the contributions of the Ministry of Education of Peru, John Dewey and Cárdenas Salceda, who maintain that this pedagogical strategy promotes the active participation of children, allowing them to explore, ask questions and seek solutions to problems of interest to them, generating meaningful learning inside and outside the classroom.

The main objective of this work is to show the potential of community stories in the development of educational strategies to improve the reading habit in students from rural environments. To that end, the text focuses on analyzing two major aspects. The first is communal stories as part of the oral tradition of the peoples and the urgency to revalue them due to the processes of rapid change that indigenous communities are currently going through. Regarding the second aspect, the importance of Intercultural Bilingual Education is addressed as the approach that allows the collective memory of indigenous peoples to be aligned with educational strategies, to encourage the habit of reading and simultaneously strengthen the cultural identity of students from rural origin.

At the international level, the loss of values is a concern that involves both governmental and social entities. In the case of Peru, the issue of values is related to the weakening of community practices. At the local level, the work we have carried out within educational institutions has demonstrated that this reality is present in the schools where we conducted our professional practice.
In this sense, the main objective of this research study is to compile the theoretical framework related to three categories: the short story, which is developed from its definition to the description of the Andean short story and its importance within Intercultural Bilingual Education (IBE). The second category is the practice of Ayni, defined as an ethical principle of reciprocity within the Andean worldview, its characteristics as an Andean practice, and its implications at the educational level. The third category is the learning project, which is described by answering the question, “What is a learning project?” and how its methodology can be implemented within IBE.
Having gathered this body of information, we have been able to understand why Andean practices are important and the role education plays in their preservation and transmission.

The study, entitled “The compilation of local stories and myths was devised as a strategy to improve oral expression and reading comprehension in Spanish as a second language among Year 5 pupils at Educational Institution No. 50536 in Ccoñamuro”, was prompted by concerns over poor performance in the area of communication. It was found that many pupils had significant difficulties with reading and, in particular, with understanding written texts. For the research, we visited the community of Ccoñamuro in the district of Urcos, province of Quispicanchis, where we were able to interview the headteacher of the school, who, expressing great concern, identified one of the problems affecting the school: a lack of interest and motivation in reading, writing and text comprehension among the children, particularly those in the final years (Year 5) as a central issue. It is for this reason that, in response to this concern, we proposed using the community’s traditional stories as teaching tools, a strategy that will be highly useful and closely aligned with their reality and the environment in which they live. The study aims to analyse the impact of these Andean narratives on student learning, identifying specific problems and thereby designing a methodology adapted and suited to their learning and development within the community, using ethnographic techniques such as interviews, observation, and electronic equipment.
