Abstract
This work is titled "Qoyacha Mestizo Dance as a Strategy for the Development of Psychomotor Skills in Early Childhood Education." This is an applied research project that brings together authors who have studied dance and its relationship to education. In our case, our interest is to examine the relationship between dance and its contribution to the development of gross psychomotor skills at the early childhood level. However, every dance has a context; thus, the Qoyacha Mestizo dance participates in the festival of the Lord of Qoyllurit´i, hence our interest in dedicating some reflections to the festival. We believe that the Qoyacha Mestizo dance, within the context of the festival, constitutes a more comprehensive approach to psychomotor skills: it includes not only movement but also rhythm, harmony, relationships, spatial management, orientations, role exchanges, and community discipline. These are the topics addressed in this work. We believe this research will help teachers use traditional dance as an interesting, innovative, and comprehensive pedagogical strategy to promote the development of children's psychomotor skills.
